Definition and Classification of Silicon Steel
Silicon steel refers to very low carbon silicon ferroalloys with a silicon content of 0.5% to 4.5%, and is classified as non-oriented silicon steel and oriented silicon steel due to different structures and uses. Silicon steel is mainly used as cores for various electric motors, generators, compressors, motors and transformers, and is an indispensable raw material product for the electric power and home appliance industries.
The classification of silicon steel sheet is roughly hot-rolled silicon steel sheet (in recent years, the relevant departments have been ordered to phase out), cold-rolled silicon steel sheet (the main use is for the manufacture of transformers), high magnetic susceptibility cold-rolled silicon steel sheet (mainly used in the telecommunication and instrumentation industry in the manufacture of a variety of transformers, chokes and other electromagnetic components), cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel sheet (the main use for the manufacture of electrical machinery).
